AUXILIARY A Happy Place to Land I PCRMC debuts The Lily Pad Gift Shop n October, Phelps County Regional Medical Center (PCRMC) opened the doors to its redesigned gift shop, The Lily Pad. The newly decorated space offers gifts for every occasion and is available to patients, visitors and staff. “We tried to give The Lily Pad the feel of a boutique,” says shop manager Katie Lortz, who selects all the merchandise. “Many of the items we offer are unique to our shop.” “The Lily Pad was a labor of love for us,” says Tina Pridgeon, director of Auxiliary and Volunteer Services at PCRMC. “A lot of time was spent determining how to make the gift shop a special place where people could purchase high-quality items.” Pridgeon says she’s proud of the effort that resulted in the shop’s opening and that volunteers and Auxiliary members give so much every day to help the hospital fulfill its mission of “Always Caring, Always Sharing.” At the grand opening of The Lily Pad, Auxiliary Board President Kathy Nickason thanked the PCRMC administration and board of trustees for their generous gift of space for the store. The Lily Pad Gift Shop is open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Information: 573-458-7939. Jewelry and watches are popular sellers at The Lily Pad. Nearly Half a Century of Fundraising 1953: In the first fundraising project within what was then Phelps Regional Hospital, a cart carrying toiletries and books for patients starts making regular rounds. 1966: The first gift shop opens; vending-machine revenue also becomes an additional source of income for the Auxiliary. 1973, 1981, 1993: Each time, the gift shop is enlarged and relocated or rebuilt. 2011: The Lily Pad opens.
