S The Repeat Boutique offers new and gently used items at a reduced price, with proceeds benefiting the community tep into Phelps County Regional Medical Center’s (PCRMC) Auxiliary and Volunteer Services resale shop, the Repeat Boutique, and you never know what you might find. The shop has an array of new and gently used items for sale to PCRMC patients, visitors and employees, and has been a service to the community since the early 1990s. Director of Auxiliary and Volunteer Services Tina Pridgeon says PCRMC identified a community need for quality, used items long before other resale shops in the area were opened. “The volunteers saw a resale shop as another way to serve the people in our community while at the same time generating revenue for PCRMC,” Pridgeon says. “Last year, in 2011, the Repeat Boutique made a grand total of $18,400 toward helping other people. We are so proud of that accomplishment.” Volunteers, employees and patients are all welcome to donate items, and Pridgeon says that any person donating items will be offered a tax-deduction slip. The shop takes almost all types of donated goods: clothing of all sizes, housewares, knickknacks, toys and appliances. “The only items we cannot take are personal items, large furniture [because of space restrictions], baby furniture and durable medical equipment,” Pridgeon says. “Anyone is welcome to drop off donated items anytime during our working hours of Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.” Pridgeon says that new items are added all the time, and the shop holds special sales on seasonal items around holidays, such as Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. “We enjoy decorating the shop for holidays,” she says. “And our customers tell us how much they appreciate buying quality items at discounted prices.” Dorothy Happel, manager of the Repeat Boutique, says the opportunity to work at the resale shop makes her feel good because she knows that all the donations and sales are going to help others. “We have had so many people over the years tell us they are so grateful for our shop,” she says, “because they wouldn’t have had the opportunity to purchase certain items that By Somer Overshon they found here.” Volunteers in the Repeat Boutique enjoy meeting customers and giving back to PCRMC.
