Opening ThoughTs The Quest for Excellence What we’re doing to offer you quality care, close to home T his issue of Vim & Vigor is dedicated to our quest for excellence, with coverage of North Mississippi Health Services receiving the 2012 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and the 2012 Community Report. Both endeavors recognize our dedication to quality care and service. When our flagship hospital, North Mississippi Medical Center, received the Baldrige Award in 2006, we charted our course for our healthcare organization to achieve this lofty goal. We used the Baldrige framework and focused on aligning our services and goals systemwide. The award recognized the achievement of that goal, but the true winners are our staff, physicians, patients and the communities we serve. The Baldrige process helps build world-class organizations. Throughout the application process, the Baldrige criteria has enabled us to step back and look at the big picture, seeing where we’ve gotten stronger and how we’ve grown throughout our Baldrige journey. NMMC and NMHS hold the distinction of being the only Baldrige recipients in Mississippi. Special thanks are extended to everyone who has utilized any of our services. We strive to improve our services to better serve you, and the Baldrige journey has been an important part of our endeavors to improve the quality of care provided. NMMC, flagship hospital of North Mississippi Health Services, is the 2006 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award recipient in the healthcare division. NMMC is the first and only recipient in Mississippi. NMHS uses Baldrige framework and focus to align services and goals systemwide. NMHS named the 2012 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award recipient in the healthcare division on its first application. NMHS and NMMC are the only Baldrige recipients in Mississippi.
