Phil’s Feature Meeting an Ever-Expanding Need We’re making sure you always have healthcare services within reach S ensible growth is a priority for Gwinnett Medical Center. At the heart of that statement lies the community. We know that those living nearby face a diverse range of healthcare needs, and we are committed to meet those needs by growing our offerings. To that end, we have recently expanded women’s services to the Hamilton Mill area. GMC Imaging Center–Hamilton Mill has been in operation since September 2008. Late last fall, several GMC-affiliated Ob-Gyns began seeing patients in an adjoining facility. It’s well known that women, as the family caregivers, can sometimes put their health needs last on a list of priorities. We’re hopeful this new facility will help ease the burden of women, as they make those critical doctor visits and tangle with tight schedules and life’s demands, by putting more convenient healthcare locations within reach. To further complement our offerings in Hamilton Mill, a healthcare navigator will also work in this same office. The navigator, a GMC employee, can guide women through the hospital system by sharing information on the services. In turn, the patient is able to make the best healthcare decisions possible. As healthcare continues to plot a course down an unpredictable path, it’s critical that the experience be as customer-focused as possible. This strengthened unity between hospitals and doctors is one example of how GMC is managing the new paradigm and transforming healthcare for our community. Philip R.
