OUT OF THE WHITE COAT Dream Come True Internal medicine physician enjoys being the one thing he's ever wanted to be B edri Yusuf, MD, FACP, SFHM, CPE, always dreamed of becoming a doctor. He was 13 years old when his father taught him how to measure a person's blood pressure. Now, with 14 years of experience in the medical ﬁeld, he is the associate medical director for the Inpatient Medical Group at Gwinnett Medical Center. Dr. Yusuf began his career as a general medical practitioner. Born in Nazareth, Ethiopia, he attended medical school at Addis Ababa University's Gondar Medical College in Ethiopia. He completed his residency in dermatology at Leipzig University in Germany and his internal medicine residency at Atlanta Medical Center. He is board-certiﬁed in internal medicine with a focused practice in hospital medicine. In addition to his work at GMC, Dr. Yusuf is a fellow in the American College of Physicians, a senior fellow in hospital medicine and a certiﬁed physician executive. He currently serves as the vice president of medical staff at Gwinnett Medical Center, where he has practiced for seven years. When he is not working with his colleagues in the Inpatient Medical Group, Dr. Yusuf enjoys going to the gym, riding his bicycle, traveling and watching movies.
