InterventIonal CardIology team 6 WINTE R 2 013 advanCed teChnology The PCRMC Cardiology Department, in collaboration with the Medical Imaging Department, uses some of the most advanced and modern technology available in healthcare. One of the most impressive is the Philips iCT 256-slice CT scanner. The powerful scanner has the ability to detect life-threatening illnesses at an early stage, including heart disease, cancer, stroke and lung photo by thinkstock PCRMC implemented interventional cardiology services to its highly established noninvasive cardiac services earlier this year. James Spadaro, MD, joined the existing PCRMC cardiologists, Thomas Martin, MD, and Timothy Martin, MD, and Adult Nurse Practitioner Steven Ballard. The cardiologists at the PCRMC Heart and Vascular Center make a robust, experienced team for patients needing worldclass cardiac care. PCRMC planned and trained its current cardiology staff on interventional cardiology procedures beginning in 2012 and finalized the educational sessions in May 2013. Shortly after, Dr. Spadaro and his team performed the first percutaneous coronary intervention at PCRMC on May 14 and followed with four more interventional procedures the next day.
