Think Well, Stay Well Kara Meler, DO Dr. Kara Meler embraces family medicine and preventive care By Somer overShon Kara Meler, DO, knew she wanted to practice medicine from an early age and initially considered veterinary medicine. She later changed to family medicine because she enjoyed the idea of being able to foster caring, lasting relationships with patients and make a difference in their lives. Dr. Meler realized her passion for family medicine when she completed her clinical rotations in medical school. "I love that family medicine allows me to see people of all ages for a variety of reasons," she says. "I am able to care for all types of people, see results and monitor their health throughout their lives." Why Establish Primary CarE? Dr. Kara Meler provides family medicine for patients of all ages. Dr. Meler believes establishing primary care with a qualified healthcare provider is important for all ages, from the very young to the very old. "Primary care helps people have a home base to go to for their healthcare needs," says Dr. Meler. "Primary care also ensures people are getting the preventive care they need to keep them healthy." The healthcare climate is shifting from diagnosis and treatment to prevention and wellness. Dr. Meler applauds the paradigm shift toward preventive medicine.
