PCRMC AuxiliARy & VolunteeR SeRViCeS AwARdS SCholARShiPS PCRMC Auxiliary & Volunteer Services (AVS) actively supports the nursing and healthcare professions each year by awarding scholarships to local students. In 2014, the AVS presented a total of $14,000 in scholarships to registered nursing (RN), licensed practical nursing (LPN) and Allied Health students. The RN and Allied Health scholar- ships winners were announced in December. Kimberly Harfst and Sierra Buehlmann received a $2,000 scholar- ship for Allied Health careers, while Kaylee Auxier and Tara Taylor received a $2,000 scholarship toward their RN education. LPN scholarships were awarded at Rolla Technical Center at the 48th Class Lamp Lighting Ceremony Program in December 2014. Bobby Brown, Amy Zeugin and Randi Ray each received a $2,000 scholarship from the AVS to go toward tuition expenses. Scholarship Process The AVS begins taking applications for RN, LPN and Allied Health scholar- ships each year at the start of the fall semester in August. Applications are available on the PCRMC website or can be picked up in the Human Resources or Auxiliary & Volunteer Services departments at PCRMC. The AVS also mails informational packets to all local schools to make financial aid counsel- ors in each school district aware of the scholarship opportunities. Each November, a panel made up of eight employees from the AVS Board, hospital and PCRMC Medical Group conduct interviews using a point sys- tem. By the end of the day, scores are tallied and winners are determined. Scholarship recipients are notified by mail and invited to the AVS quarterly luncheon in December. The LPN schol- arships are awarded separately during the Lamp Lighting Ceremony at the Rolla Technical Center. Scholarship Requirements Applicants must be enrolled in an RN, LPN or Allied Health program to qualify. Scholarships awarded by the AVS must be used for tuition only. The school SUMME R 2015 3
