DDCI and the Future ABOUT: BRUCE ELLERIN, MD He speaks four additional languages: French, German, Italian and Spanish. He received a law degree from Harvard in 1985. He completed a PhD in Government & Political Theory in 1991 from Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. He graduated from medical school in 1995 from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill. Following medical school, he completed a residency at Weill Medical College/NewYorkPresbyterian Hospital in New York City in 2000. 56 SU M M ER 2015 For Dr. Ellerin, having all of PCRMC's cancer care services under one roof is an immeasurable beneﬁt. "Medicine has increasingly become a business of information," says Dr. Ellerin. "Providers must stay informed and abreast of the current treatments and procedures to guarantee the best patient outcomes, and ensuring communication across the continuum of care is vital. The talented radiation oncology staﬀ has approximately 132 years of combined experience, and the group works together to ensure each patient receives individualized care and education. "The patients keep us here; they inspire us," says Diana Pantaleo, RN. "Our staﬀ becomes our patients support group, and when they are receiving treatment, and even after, we consider them to be our family." Michelle Simpson, RN, agrees. "After treatment, many of our patients stop in to see us and visit. What we do is incredibly rewarding, and we get to see people beneﬁt from the care they receive here," she says.
