RESIDENT & STAFF AWARENESS General resident and staff awareness is so very important and can be easily increased in a number of ways. ■ ■ Does your association have a community newsletter or web page? Do you utilize a service for mass phone messaging and/ or emailing to get information out to your residents and your staff ? These are all great venues to raise general awareness. When was the last time your residents were reminded of what they should do in the event of an emergency? ■ When was the last time you shared emergency phone numbers, including town or city resources phone numbers, with your residents? ■ When did you last remind your residents of the importance of reporting suspicious activity to staff or the local police in a timely basis? Or about reporting conditions such as lights that are out, doors or locks that may not be working properly, or slippery conditions during inclement weather? ■ When did you last speak with the building staff regarding some of these important items? ■ I would encourage you to take a few moments during your busy day and think about how some of these examples might apply to your association.
