CED's Desk WWW.CAINE.ORG WE HAVE YOUR BACK A s a career track, professional association management isn't well recognized-managers often make their way to condominiums via a journey that started in another industry or are recruited with little knowledge of the role and responsibilities. Education for the professional association manager is often learned through on-the-job training and further developed through educational programs offered by professional industry organizations like CAI and the professional management development programs (PMDP) leading to industry designations including Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA), Association Management Specialist (AMS), and Professional Community Association Manager (PCAM). Unlike their homeowners, associations never sleep and require oversight 24/7. Condominium management is not for the faint of heart and despite the challenges, it is fortunate for this growing industry-with close to 347,000 community associations across the country according to the CAI 2016 Community Association Fact Book-that many professionals have chosen this career path. From industry education and training to publications and resources, CAI and the New England chapter will continue to support professional managers and those communities seeking management services. Wishing all of our readers a Happy Thanksgiving in the company of friends and family and remembering those still recovering from the natural disasters we have witnessed in recent months. Sincerely, Claudette Carini Chapter Executive Director 4 CONDOMEDIAhttp://WWW.CAINE.ORG
