Hats Off to the Award Winners
UNSUNG HERO

Many condominium professionals work in visible positions where their
achievements are easily recognized. But some work quietly, behind the
scenes, not always getting credit for the contributions they make. The
" unsung hero " award honors non-managerial employees - of associations,
management companies, and business partners - who " have made a positive impact, shown a willingness to help in whatever capacity necessary
and displayed commitment to excellence. " Michael Tucker, facilities
manager at Crossroads on the Charles, won this year's award for his dedicated service and commitment to the community and its residents.
According to Martha Esquivel, the Board of Trustee member who nominated him, " There isn't a single Crossroads resident who doesn't speak
positively about him. He is a consummate professional. He is also selfless, committed to helping others and a genuinely good person. Michael
represents the best of those who work in property management, " she
concluded, " and is an ideal candidate to receive the unsung hero award. "

Dealing

with the
Pandemic
If CAI-NE offered an award for
the biggest challenge confronting
condominium communities, the
pandemic would have been the
hands-down winner for 2020.
Several of this year's nominations
and these two awards reflect that
focus. " In these nominations,
you can see individuals rising to
the occasion, finding creative
ways to address challenges community associations had never
faced before, " Thompson, the
co-chairman of the Banquet
Committee, said. " Their creativity
and commitment were impressive
and really nice to see. "

MEMBER COMMUNICATIONS

Sheila Belliveau, hospitality group team leader at the
Robbins Brook Condominium Trust, and Cindy Nock,
editor of the community's newsletter, combined forces to
keep residents sheltering in place during the pandemic
entertained and engaged and to support those who
needed assistance. " Substituting virtual activities for
in-person events required creativity and ingenuity, "
Gail Enman, chair of the Robbins Brook board,
who nominated the two volunteers noted.
She cited, among other examples:

to replace in-person meetings and to keep residents informed.

● Virtual events designed for residents. These included the community's first ever
virtual scavenger hunt and a community-wide Scary Pumpkin and Scarecrow contest.

● Outreach to individuals confined to their homes because they had contracted the
virus or been exposed to it. The Hospitality Group delivered flyers, sent e-mails, and
hand-delivered hard copies of web-based materials to residents who lacked internet
access, Enman noted. The Group also " redoubled their efforts " to support community
residents, " shopping for groceries, picking up prescriptions and making meals or
performing small kindnesses for their shut-in neighbors. "

Chase Pierson-Alter, hospitality manager for Signature
by the Dartmouth Group, received the Community
Programs and Events award for producing " an array of
fun, informative and uplifting publications to spread some
cheer " to residents dealing with isolation, dislocation, and
stress the pandemic created.
The Signature team transformed an existing monthly
social magazine distributed to community residents into
a series of informative and entertaining publications that
" created a bright counterpoint to a year of bleak pandemic
news, " the nomination form noted, adding, " the response
from residents was overwhelmingly positive. "
