CanaDIan afTerMarkeT The Canadian automotive aftermarket continues to experience positive growth, with retail sales totaling more than $16.7 billion in 2006 (up 3.8 percent from 2005). Almost two-fifths of total sales (36.6 percent) were attributed to Ontario alone ($6.1 billion). Total distributor parts sales in Canada exceeded $5.0 billion wholesale in 2006 (up 3.3 percent from 2005), while supplier parts sales totaled $4.1 billion (also up 3.3 percent from the previous year). The number of aftermarket installer and retailer establishments has changed in recent years. While the number of parts and accessories retail outlets experienced the largest compounded annual growth since 2000 (2.5 percent), the number of parts and accessories wholesaler establishments experienced a 3.1 percent decline during the same reporting period. Of all the services performed on vehicles in Canada, oil changes were the most common maintenance and repair task, with 59.9 million jobs performed in 2007. Other commonly performed services were tires (32.9 million), wiper blades (19.8 million) and air filters (13.6 million).
