T EC H N O L O G Y U P DAT E AccelerAting Aces Powersports Data Revs Up ACES Vehicle Tables In February, AAIA announced the release of a complete set of powersports applications as part of the industry standard vehicle configuration database. Vehicle data for street and sport motorcycles, utility vehicles, ATVs, snowmobiles and personal watercraft (PWC) are now published as part of the Aftermarket Catalog Enhanced Standard (ACES) vehicle database. The addition of powersports means added sales for automotive retailers and for suppliers with coverage for these applications. AAIA partnered with Ready 2 Ride, maker of the industry-leading X-ActFit aftermarket parts software search tool used by powersports distributor Tucker Rocky, and hundreds of other Powersports retailers. Ready 2 Ride is the unquestioned leader in providing electronic parts and accessory cataloging to the Powersports market. With the Ready 2 Ride “bike list” as part of the AAIA vehicle database, automotive suppliers and retailers have an opportunity to increase their share of the $1.0 billion aftermarket “having a shared vehicle reference table between the automotive and powersports industries will open the doors of opportunity and increase parts and accessory sales opportunities for the 11 million motorcycles in the u.s.” for parts and accessories in this segment. At the same time, completely new opportunities open for specialty makers and distributors of powersports products to partner with automotive retailers and distributors. “Ready 2 Ride data is in use at thousands of motorcycle dealers and online powersports retailer locations. AAIA is delighted to partner with Ready 2 Ride to bring their robust data set to the automotive aftermarket,” said Scott Luckett, AAIA vice president, technology standards. “Having a shared vehicle reference table between the automotive and Powersports industries will open the doors of opportunity and increase parts and accessory sales opportunities for the 11 million motorcycles in the U.S.” The AAIA vehicle configuration database is a component of ACES and is available with monthly updates on a subscription basis. The powersports configuration data lists the year, make, model number, model name and engine size for multiple segments of recreational and powersports vehicles. Applications extend from the current model year back to the 1930s in the case of Harley Davidson.
