Making an Impact
“I am very honored to be a recipient
of this award,” said 2012 AAIA
Impact Award winner Jens Schueler,
Schaeffler Group USA, Inc. “The
global aftermarket is a rewarding
career that offers many opportunities
to meet people from all walks of life,
and develop long-term friendships.”
The AAIA Impact Award annually
recognizes four aftermarket
professionals, age 40 or younger, who
have made remarkable contributions
within the aftermarket industry. An
almost 10-year veteran of the industry,
Jens Schueler studied economics at
the Johannes Gutenberg University
of Mainz in Germany, specializing
in macro economics and finance.
Schueler started his career in the
industry as an assistant to the global
president, automotive aftermarket, for
Schaeffler, where he “got an excellent
overview of the global markets
and aftermarket operations.” Now
president, Automotive Aftermarket
North America, Schaeffler Group USA,
Inc., Schueler has responsibility for
the company’s automotive aftermarket
operations in North America, including
Canada, the U.S. and Mexico.
Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket
(former LuK Aftermarket Service)
has been a member of AAIA
for more than 20 years.
“AAIA offers its membership the
opportunity to collectively address the
concerns of its constituents and the
aftermarket as a whole,” said Schueler.
“AAIA has been rewarding for me
personally in the amount of research
that they make available in order to
evaluate trends and opportunities
within the marketplace. I personally
am involved in the Auto International
Association (AIA) segment, which allows
me to bring my global aftermarket
perspective to the U.S. aftermarket.”
When asked about the industry’s biggest
issues, Schueler said, “I think there are
two main complexities we all have to
face within the aftermarket today. First
is that we have to manage a huge variety
of products in our product portfolios
due to the increasing variety of the car
parc. In addition, we have to manage
the delivery of the repair solution to the
garage within their time expectations.
The other challenge that I see is that
we have to secure the ability of the
independent garage to do the repair job
in the future. Technology of products
and systems is getting more complex,
and electronics will have a significant
influence on completing a repair job.
