People in 138 countries have already provided information on the online forum, which aims to: help consumers become more savvy about evaluating environmental marketing claims of advertisers; hold businesses accountable to their environmental marketing claims; and stimulate the market and demand for sustainable business practices that truly reduce the impact on the environment. Steve Roberts, vice president, Green Canary Consulting in Austin, Texas, presented, “Riding the Green Wave: Environmental Marketing, the Green Consumer and Greenwashing.” This presentation, sponsored by The Marx Group, was the first in a new series of free ACC Webinars, created to bring top-notch marketing and communication information to industry professionals right to their offices. Roberts noted that while the number of products making environmental claims has grown 79 percent since 2007, almost 40 percent of Americans don’t even understand the environmental terms frequenting today’s advertisements.
