The company satisfies these needs by focusing on the development, manufacturing and marketing of differentiated “branded” engine performance and maintenance chemical products. It reaches its target customers through retail, OEM and wholesale distribution channels. Getting Engines Going In 1932, Armin Hirsch was looking for ways to help prevent and cure automotive engine problems. At the time he was a distributor for a company that manufactured automotive chemicals. After being told by the owner that he was taking back some of his exclusive territory, Hirsch quit and started privately-held Gold Eagle Co. three days later. By 1965, Gold Eagle grew from a small, in-store operation to a 100,000 square foot factory for manufacturing their engine additives. The company was also joined by Bob and Rich Hirsch, making it a family operation. Five short years later, their second plant opened in Chicago, Ill. Through the years, Gold Eagle has grown and developed their many brands. In fact, the space required to manage their business today has tripled since 1965.
