ahePa family chaPter news DISTRICT 16 CHAPTER 311 DISTRICT 13 CHAPTER 396 District 13 AHEPA Lincolnwood Chapter 396, Chicago—The chapter met to plan the first Hellenic American Veterans Memorial for the American Legion. DISTRICT 16 CHAPTER 311 Inge Godfrey. Also, the Chapter established the Dan Anthony Memorial Scholarship Fund in 2002 to honor our Brother Dan Anthony. So far the chapter has awarded $16,000 to deserving high school graduates from our community entering their freshman year of college. This year’s recipients: Dimitrios Barrera, Megan Dolan, Thomas Layden and Justin Pretutsas (not pictured) along with the members of the Anthony Family, Father Dan Suciu and Chapter President Sgagias. DISTRICT 15 CHAPTER 3 District 15 Daughters of Penelope Electra Chapter 3, Kansas City, Mo.—The chapter celebrated the 80th anniversary of the organization. Electra Chapter 3 was established in 1932. DISTRICT 22 CHAPTER 154 District 16 AHEPA Chapter 311, San Antonio—The chapter supported “Sponsor a Soldier“ from Fisher House to our 49th Greek FUNstival in October. Enough donations were collected to invite 64 wounded soldiers. Each package contained an invite letter, a card with the name of the person making the donation, two entrance tickets, and $25 in food coupons. Col. Bill Layden and Chapter President Costa Sgagias presented the invites along with a pan of Baklava for each house to Fisher House Manager District 22 AHEPA Mt. Hood Chapter 154, Portland, Ore.—Brothers Alex Christy and Bill Aspros met with Will White, who is chief foreign policy advisor for Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR). White was visiting Portland from Washington, DC. A wide range of topics were discussed, including the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Cyprus, and the Aegean Sea, and the Brothers provided literature to Mr. White. He expressed gratitude for bringing these issues to his attention and would discuss them with the senator.
