However, the chapter is not resting on its laurels as the leading chapter with HUD properties in the ANHC, it has applied for a thirteenth project and awaits the hopeful notification. This latter project application is not being co-sponsored by the ANHC as the corporation has reached its maximum allowed FY project sponsorships. This will be a new venture for the chapter. The AHEPA 310 Board is headed by President Nick Stratas, who is the Chairman of the Board for the ANHC, and has continually led by example. The dual event began with the groundbreaking of the newest property at 10 a.m. in Daphne. The grounds were blessed by Rev. Elias Stevens of Annunciation Church, Mobile, Ala. Besides the Board and chapter members, Alabama HUD Director Cindy Yarbrough participated and helped symbolically turn the soil for the new building. Following this traditional ceremony, the more festive dedication of the eleventh property in Theodore took place. Rev. Stevens blessed the building and the formalities began. Among the speakers were Board President Nick Stratas, Nick Tsounis, chapter president, Elmer Smith, consultant, Paul Hulse, AMC president, Arthur Poly, ANHC president and Cindy Yarbrough, HUD Alabama director. Ms. Yarbrough cited the AHEPA for its excellent reputation and high regard by HUD for the quality and operation of its 202 program properties. She welcomed more applications in future years. A sumptuous luncheon was provided the guests and residents by the AHEPA 310 Board of Directors. Other Board members include James Lignos, vice pres.; Nick Palles, secretary; Louis Ladas, treasurer; and Directors Bill Chavers, Makis Foropoulos, Theodore Striggles and Chris Zaracostas. The Board now controls 11 operating properties with a total of 577 apartments. The twelfth property will add 39 units. VIPs gather to dedicate 11th property. From left: E. Smith, consultant; P.
