Sonnox (www.sonnox.com) premiered Sonnox Restore ($1995), a new collection of RTAS/AU/VST audio restoration plug-ins that includes Oxford DeClicker, DeBuzzer, and DeNoiser. The new programs offer unique graphical display of their operation, with intuitive operation and fast, accurate audio repairs. Sony (pro.sony.com) featured the PCM-M10 field recorder ($399), first shown in our October 2009 Fast Forward and with a review coming soon. SoundToys (www.soundtoys.com) announced two new plug-ins (prices TBA): the PanMan multimode autopanner with programmable pan rhythm and MIDI sync, and the Decapitator, which models analog electronic saturation and distortion (complete with a Punish button!). $500), a 1U 16-input/4-output interface with front-panel metering, eight mic preamps (two with Hi-Z instrument inputs optional), six balanced line inputs, four balanced line outputs, and S/PDIF. The DP-008 ($299) is a pocket-sized 8-track digital recorder with built-in mixer and reverb, two XLR mic inputs, a guitar input, stereo mics for room recording, and comes with a 2 GB SD card. And the VL-M3 ($99/pair) is a small stereo monitor for desktop use with a 3” driver and built-in 12W/channel power amplifier. Telefunken (www.t-funk.com) introduced the AR-51 ($1695), an affordable tube mic that uses the same circuit design and NOS tube as the classic ELA M 251 E but on a printed circuit board, with a globally sourced, locally tested power supply and capsule. TransAudio Group (www.transaudiogroup.com) had a number of new announcements from its distributed companies, including the FET3 dual-channel limiter by Geoffrey Daking (under $2000) with variable stereo linking via audio summing Steinberg (www.steinberg.net) was showing its CI2 Advanced Integration USB Studio ($249.99), which combines a tabletop 2channel audio interface/smart-controller with Cubase AI 5, designed to integrate smoothly with the controller hardware. Steven Slate (www.stevenslatedrums.com) announced two new company initiatives: Slate Digital (www.slatedigital.com), which will release a new line of audio processing plug-ins, and Slate Pro Audio (www.slateproaudio.com), which will sell new analog signal processors. The first of these, the DRAGON ($1995), combines a classic FET compressor circuit with special tone-shaping features like wet/dry mix, three levels of tape saturation, Boom, Bite, and Sheen. Studio Six Digital (www.studiosixdigital.com) garnered attention with its pro audio hardware and audio analysis applications for the iPhone, including the iAudio Interface and iProMic (prices TBA), and a modular, expandable software set called AudioTools. Summit Audio (www.summit audio.com) is now shipping the ECS-410 Everest ($3925), a 2U rack with a switchable tube/ transistor preamp, dual-mode compressor/ limiter, dual tube/transistor drive circuit, and LC passive equalizer, routable in series but with each module also having its own balanced I/O for separate access. TASCAM (www.tascam.com) announced two new USB 2.0 interfaces, the US-100 (street price under $100), a 16bit/48 kHz 4-in/2-out unit with one XLR or 1/4" mic input, one Hi-Z 1/4" guitar input, RCA line inputs (switchable to RIAA phono with ground lug), and 1/8" stereo headphone output, and the US-2000 (street price under rather than voltage summing; the AM 50 tube omni mic from Bock Audio for ensemble recording and Decca Tree use ($7900); the True Systems PT2-500 mic preamp/DI with DI Thru in 500-Series format ($529); and the SoundField UPM-1 stereo-to-5.1 upmix processor. Ultrasone (www.ultrasone.com) released a new flagship for its HFI Series of headphones, the open-backed HFI-2400 ($329) with 40 mm gold-plated drivers and Ultrasone’s S-Logic technology for three-dimensional sound reproduction. Waves (www.waves.com) premiered the Eddie Kramer Collection ($800), a set of five customized audio plug-ins in RTAS/VST/AU format: The Vocal, Drum, Bass, Guitar, and Effects (tape delay plus EMT plate reverb) Channels, each showcasing two to four instrument sound setups that Kramer has made famous, or in the case of the Drum Channel, specific setups for kick, snare, hat, toms, overheads, and room mics.
