Line 6 (line6.com) announced a brand new line of live-sound equipment, including the StageSource L3T and L3S PA speaker and subwoofer and the StageScape M20D reconfigurable digital mix console system with built-in DSP. On the studio side, Line 6 showed the Mobile Keys 25 and 49 ($149.99 and $199.99), lightweight portable keyboards that interface via USB or iOS dock connector. The Mobile In (price TBA) is a 24-bit/48 kHz dockconnector audio interface for iOS devices, with a guitar input and stereo line-level input; it works with the free Mobile POD guitar-chain modeling app, which offers 32 amps, 16 cabinets, and 16 effects racks and stomp boxes. Mackie (mackie.com) unveiled the DL1608 ($999.99), a digital mixer controlled from an iPad (either docked on the front panel or remotely). It has 16 Onyx mic preamps, six aux sends plus master output, and DSP for 4-band eq, gates and compressors on all inputs, 31-band graphic eq and compression on outputs, reverb, delay, and more. Multiple iPads can control different aspects of the mixer’s routing, so band members can tweak their own cue mixes. McDSP (mcdsp.com) announced 64-bit support for the Audio Units versions of its entire native plug-in line (free upgrade) and the forthcoming availability of AAX versions of its Pro Tools plugins ($49 and up per upgrade). Also at McDSP’s booth: LouderLogic, the new iOS listening app reviewed in this issue. MicW Audio (mic-w.com) was showing the i-Series microphones for iOS devices. The series includes the i436 omni measurement mic, the i456 and i266 cardioid recording mics, and the i825 (omni) and i855 (cardioid) lavalier mics. All models are electret condenser mics that plug into the TRRS jack on iOS devices. Mojave Audio (mojaveaudio.com) displayed the MA-301fet solid-state multi-pattern condenser mic ($895) first shown in prototype form at AES. MOTU (motu.com) featured the 4pre ($495), a hybrid 6-in/8-out audio interface for Mac and Windows with FireWire or USB 2.0 connectivity, a built-in 8-bus digital mixer with standalone operation and front-panel mix access offering four mixes for each stereo output pair (main outs, line outs, headphones, and S/PDIF), two separate headphone outs with individual volume controls and two different mixes, and more. Also new: a first look at Digital Performer 8 (price TBA), which for the first time will be offered not only on Mac OS X but also Windows 7. The new version will include the Punch Guard safety feature to retrieve audio from missed punches, 15 new plug-ins, and more. Muse Research & Development (muse research.com): The newest RECEPTOR DSP plug-in engine is the RECEPTOR VIP ($1599), which will replace the base RECEPTOR 2+ in the company’s lineup. It offers a new chassis, new audio I/O, and new front panel design. This combines with MUSE OS 2.0, a revamped user interface and operating system with drag-anddrop functionality that greatly eases programming and creating sound sets. Also at the Muse booth, Rob Papen (robpapen.com) debuted Punch ($179), a drum machine software plug-in that combines multiple synthesis models and a built-in sample library with the ability to import one’s own samples. Its internal sequencer allows for quick programming of beats and on-the-fly switching between patterns. MXL Microphones (mxlmics.com) was showing two new cardioid condenser USB mics with built-in headphone outputs: the Tempo ($79.95), available in two finishes—silver on black or black on red—and the Studio 1 Red Dot ($129.95). All three mics are iOS compatible when connected to an Apple Camera Connection Kit. Also new from MXL: the V67GS Recording Kit ($449), a prepackaged collection of one
