Yamaha Ships New Headphones And Monitors
Yamaha is now shipping the HPH-MT220 and HPH-MT120 studio headphones. These new phones offer
copper-clad aluminum wire voice coils in a circumaural design with pivoting earcups for maximum comfort
for extended listening sessions. The HPH-MT220 adds an aluminum hairline finish and memory foam ear
cushions covered in synthetic protein leatherette for proper fit and sound insulation.
Yamaha is also shipping the newest monitors in the HS Series. The new speakers offer updated and
improved features and specs from the original HS monitors released in 2006. These include 1" dome
tweeters and newly designed woofers in bass-reflex cabinets with advanced port noise reduction. The
new series includes the HS5 with a 5" woofer, the HS7 with a 6.5" woofer (a size previously unavailable in an HS speaker), the HS8 with an 8" woofer, and the HS8S subwoofer with an 8" woofer and
dual balanced XLR and 1/4" inputs. The HS7 and HS8S have just arrived at our offices as of press time;

Telefunken Offers Dynamic Mics For Tight Spaces
Telefunken Elektroakustik has released two new “Shorty” versions of its
popular M80 and M81 dynamic microphones. These mics offer shorter bodies with built-in mic clips for tight placement applications in recording studios or live gigs. Each mic comes with a special right-angled XLR cable to
aid in placement and offer more convenient cable runs.
The M80-SH is a “Shorty” version of the M80, intended for snare drum and
vocal applications. It offers a bright open sound with wide frequency response
and high SPL handling with a tight cardioid polar pattern. The M81-SH is a
“Shorty” version of the M81, with a flatter overall frequency response for body
and clarity combined with a darker, richer tone. It is suitable for taming bright
voices and for fattening up toms, percussion, horns and more.

IsoAcoustics Goes Big With New Isolation Stand
The new ISO-L8R430 Acoustic Isolation Stand is the latest speaker isolation product from IsoAcoustics, originally sneak-previewed at Winter NAMM and now shipping. It’s a larger design suitable for heavy midfield monitors, horizontal-configuration speakers, and guitar and bass amps.
As with other IsoAcoustics products, the ISO-L8R430 decouples speakers from the
surfaces on which they stand, reducing energy transfer into the surface and improving sound clarity, tighter bass and more open midrange.
Measuring 17" x 9", the ISO-L8R430 can be adjusted to several different forward or backward tilt angles, and can support speakers weighing up to 100
pounds.
