ISTAT SHINES in ORLANDO
As the spring weather steadily made its way into Florida, with it arrived the emergence of progress and innovation at the ISTAT 27th Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida, March 14-16. Close to 1,100 attendees made their way to Orlando from locations worldwide for a top-notch educational and networking event, and ISTAT didn’t disappoint. Among the offerings was a wide array of educational speakers including several panel sessions and industry outlooks from John Leahy of Airbus and Randy Tinseth of Boeing. Common throughout the conference was a reoccurring observation that the resilient aviation industry has turned the corner through the difﬁculties of 2009 and is moving ahead toward a brighter future. John Leahy, COO – Customers at Airbus, was the opening conference speaker and introduced the possibilities of A320 family re-engining programs in the near future. Those comments were reﬂected throughout the event, as many speakers sought to deﬁne how reengining and open rotor technologies would shape the outlook of the industry. As always, attendees beneﬁted from the opportunity to take in the ﬁrst-hand knowledge shared by these talented and experienced aviation industry professionals. ISTAT graciously thanks all the session and panel speakers who contributed their expertise to advance ISTAT members and the industry, as well as the sponsors who made the event possible. The lessors’ panel, moderated by Jeff Knittel, CIT Transportation Finance, included discussion on the state of the global markets, inﬂation and emergence of new technology.
