ISTAT Board Approves ISTAT Farnborough Airshow Chalet
ISTAT will provide a Private Business Chalet at the 2012 Farnborough International Airshow, 9-15 July. Plans also include a special family day on Friday, 13 July. The Chalet will also be open on public days Saturday, 14 July and Sunday, 15 July. It will be open daily from 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Space is limited. Look for registration information and full details on the ISTAT website.

ISTAT Asia 2012—A Resounding Success
The second annual ISTAT Asia conference took place on 6-8 May in Singapore. The event was extremely well supported by all constituents of the ISTAT membership. Total attendance was up more than 30 percent on the previous year’s conference in Beijing and included more than 40 new ISTAT members. Singapore is a fast-growing aviation market, particularly amongst the leasing community and consequently was well-supported locally. Keynote speeches from Chew Choon Seng, Chairman of the Singapore Stock Exchange, and also from the Economic Development Board were excellent. Four panel discussions amongst CEOs and senior ﬁgures from each of the airlines, ﬁnanciers, lessors and appraisers covered a broad range of topics. Each panel also had strong regional representation, in particular the airline panel with CEOs and CFOs from Indonesian, Indian and Singaporean airlines. Each of the major manufacturers provided updates on their programs, and for once the usual Airbus/Boeing sparring was matched by that between Bombardier and Embraer. Completing the line-up was a session introducing the work of the ISTAT Foundation for the ﬁrst time in Asia. The Foundation introduced Aditya Nugroho, recipient of an ISTAT Foundation scholarship for completion of his degree course in Singapore. ISTAT Asia is fast becoming a ﬁxture in the annual calendar alongside ISTAT Americas and ISTAT Europe, growing both the global coverage of ISTAT and its Asian membership base. Thank you to committee members Steven Townend, Tony Diaz and Peter Huijbers who helped to make Singapore a success. We are already looking forward to next year in Tokyo.
