HILO, BIG ISLAND
Located on the lush windward side of Hawai'i's Big Island, Hilo is the
starting point to explore the eastern part of this breathtaking isle.
Drive the 18-kilometre rim of Kilauea volcano and marvel at the
dramatic lava formations of Volcanoes National Park. At the majestic
Akaka Falls, water cascades more than 120 metres into a pool below.
Take a stroll through the splendid Liliuokalani Gardens, an authentic
Japanese garden created in the early 1900s.

Imagine yourself flying through a tropical rainforest canopy over splashing
streams and waterfalls on a seven-stage zipline course with a view of the
crystal blue Pacific Ocean in the distance. After your zip line adventure, enjoy
a relaxing stroll through the World Botanical Gardens and the soothing view
of a cascading waterfall.

THE LAND OF FROZEN FI RE
Pass through the visually stunning countryside in the Puna district just
outside Hilo, where you will see lava fields from past volcanic eruptions
and walk along the Pohoiki black-sand beach, which is composed of lava
fragments. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to shop for locally
made merchandise and meander along Hilo Bay, whose jagged black rock
shoreline is volcanic in origin.
