Mandy Li Collection
The company has recently launched its Silver Linings Case Goods collection, as well as a line of custom vanity
bases. But the highlight of 2013, says CEO Mandy Li: "We were proud to be invited to be part of a unique charity
event called the G ive Kids The World Extreme Village Makeover where we provided 600 chairs (barstools and
dining chairs). Give Kids The World is a non-profi t resort in Kissimmee, Florida for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families."
Other initiatives that are top of mind: quality control procedures; improving communications with clients and between the company's U.S. and
China offices; and expanding sustainability awareness-which includes "our continued use of recycled or salvaged packaging materials in all of our
shipments as well as using lumber from sources local to our factories," Li says. The biggest challenges today, she adds, "Ongoing efforts to provide
competitive pricing and provide quick turnarounds in initial pricing and jobsite deliveries. We maintain strong lines of communication with our factory
partners to ensure that we can provide the best possible price options. It is in this manner that we are able to offer competitive pricing, and still take
pride in our work. We stand behind the quality and craftsmanship of everything we do."
Just as important as maintaining good relations with clients, is staying in touch with the industry. "As business leaders in the hospitality industry,
we have a responsibility to contribute to industry dialogue, and promote education and interest within our industry," says Li. "NEWH has allowed us
to become involved in their objective to do just this. For these reasons, we will continue to support NEWH because we believe industry ties are as
important as client relationships."
P/Kaufmann Contract
Last year, the P/Kaufmann Contract team focused on the development of a new website that will offer
superior features for their clients. Simultaneously, the company updated its brand identity, and as a result,
P/Kaufmann's new website, pkcontract.com, will launch in March, which will showcase the company's full
hospitality-focused design offerings.
"As always, we appreciate all the good work NEWH does to provide networking for our industry's professionals and financial support to students
interested in the hospitality industry. We are proud to be a supporter of their efforts and the community of which we are a member."
OW Hospitality
Even though most of OW Hospitality's work is custom, the company's newest collection is dubbed Multifaceted,
influenced by the smooth planes of a faceted gem. Next up: "a high-profile collection of custom carpets in
collaboration with one of the industry's most exciting celebrities launching at HD Expo in May," says OW Hospitality's
CEO, Mike Riley, adding that the company has worked on many noteworthy installs, including the Crown Plaza in Dallas, InterContinental in New
Orleans, and the Boomtown Casino in Reno.
Riley adds that OW Hospitality is currently in the midst of a $3,340,000 expansion of its Axminster looms "to improve running efficiencies and total
capacities to be the fastest, most state-of-the-art looms in the world today. It will allow us to reduce lead times by 30 to 40 percent of standard orders."
Expansion is helping elsewhere in OW Hospitality. "Both our greatest challenge and opportunity is the rise of tremendous global demand. On one
hand it is wonderful that we have so many opportunities that we are in a prime position to secure and service but, at times, it can be challenging
keeping up with that demand since it's so intense at the moment. We are developing capacity expansion strategies in countries that will allow us to
service the most customers and that make the most sense. "
And NEWH helps OW Hospitality meet the right people. Says Riley, "As a major player in the hospitality carpet sector, it is important for OW Hospitality
to have the ability to communicate with design firms, purchasing agents, and key decision makers in the industry. NEWH allows us the opportunity to do
that all in one place."
Kohler
Kohler recently launched its Bellwether shower receptor, which pairs with the Levity bypass shower door, both
made in the U.S. The Bellwether base is made of durable Kohler Cast Iron, and it's available in two sizes, which
makes for easy installation during new construction and remodels. Adding the Levity shower door gives the
space an upscale appearance that's easy to clean and maintain.
According to Christopher Hahn, manager, corporate accounts worldwide, Americas, Kohler had the opportunity to work with several leaders in the
hospitality industry, both domestically and overseas, in 2013. Highlights include installations at the Bentley Suite at the St. Regis Hotel, and partnerships
with Hilton on the "Forever Young Initiative" in its Hampton Hotels of North America and Marriott International's inaugural Fairfield Inn in India.
On the sustainability front, Kohler launched its "Believing In Better" platform in November to encourage Kohler associates, channel partners, and
consumers to share success stories, large and small, related to their own sustainability efforts. "It's grounded in the concept that each one of us has
the ability to do better, and that we must continuously try to improve. If we do that, then we believe the things we do every day-big or small-will help
make this world a better place," explains Hahn.
Kohler is also committed to giving back, which is a perfect tie-in for being a corporate sponsor of NEWH. "Kohler is committed to continuing
education and providing opportunities for growth. By supporting organizations like NEWH, we directly impact the lives of future designers, architects,
and other industry professionals, allowing them to recognize their full potential as they become integral parts of the design community," says Hahn.
