McInturf
What have you found to be most valuable about your NEWH involvement, both
personally and professionally?

NEWH has introduced me to a world of professionals who are passionate about their
careers and making a difference to others through education, networking, and inclusion.
The hospitality industry may seem large and daunting to a professional just starting,
however NEWH creates an atmosphere of openness that fosters relationship building. I have
embraced the opportunity to attend NEWH chapter events and tradeshows throughout
North America, which has been very rewarding.

Why do you recommend people get involved with NEWH?

NEWH is about people and their desire to become better professionals through networking
and education. It removes the barriers between designers, suppliers, purchasers, and
customers in an atmosphere where anyone can participate from a social aspect, as a
committee member, mentor, local chapter leadership, or even with international board
responsibilities. There are many opportunities to enhance your career!

What is your proudest recent NEWH accomplishment?

For the past few years I have been privileged to serve as an Ambassador on the International
Board of Directors. The experience has been personally and professionally enriching. I share
a great sense of pride working with the EdOnline team as we develop this program to help
NEWH members with an online source of educational topics to enhance their careers.

What are you most looking forward to?

I look forward to witnessing the growth of NEWH and the increasing number of people
we touch through scholarships and education. I am inspired by the positive impact this
organization has on students and young professionals. Witnessing the joy of scholarship
recipients and understanding the positive impact it may have on their life is priceless.

What would people be interested to know about your company?

Shelby Williams has enjoyed a longstanding relationship with NEWH since the beginning
of the organization. Our company was one of the first Corporate Partners-a tremendous
sense of pride for our entire organization.

When you aren't working or at an NEWH event, where can we find you?

Life outside of work consists of being a personal valet and chauffeur to the life activities of
my two kids, ages 5 and 9-a duty I share with my wife. My best negotiating skills are honed
each summer weekend when I bribe my kids with ice cream to go sailing on our boat on
Cape Cod. ❙❘❚
