What have you found to be most valuable about your NEWH involvement?

The opportunity to give back. One of the things I like most about NEWH is the importance
placed on education. The amount of scholarship money awarded each year is phenomenal.
I love hearing each student's individual story. NEWH is directly making an impact on the
future of hospitality by supporting and developing the leaders of tomorrow.

Why do you recommend people get involved with NEWH?

Building relationships within your profession is critical. Going to the office every day, you
can often get stuck in your own bubble, but NEWH events allow you to break out. NEWH is
such a great way to meet others in your field and build your network. For those just out of
school or new to an area, these new bonds can not only lead to job opportunities, but also
lifelong friendships.

What is your proudest recent NEWH accomplishment?

Mid-South region steering
committee chair, and design
manager, focused service
brands, Hilton

This past summer, we were able to partner with other local networking organizations (IIDA,
ASID, IDS, NKBA) to host a hotel tour. It was so nice to see all of the organizations rally
together. Each group brought different experiences and strengths to the table. The tour was
so successful that we plan to collaborate on more events in the future.

What are you most looking forward to?

In 2020, NEWH Mid-South is expanding to Nashville! It has been so exciting to watch the
momentum build in Memphis the last few years, and I can't wait to see it further accelerate.

What would people be interested to know about your company?

Most people are aware that Hilton has offices in McLean, Virginia, but they are often
surprised to learn that all architecture, design, and construction reviews for the five
focused-service brands are done out of Memphis.

Where do you find inspiration, both inside and outside the industry?

I have a small group of friends from design school that have all moved to different parts
of the country. We might only see each other once a year, but we still manage to stay
connected. We bounce ideas off each other, share in our successes, and help each other
navigate the difficult moments life throws at us. These ladies are talented designers, but
even more importantly, they are amazing wives and moms. I am inspired by them to be my
best self.

When you aren't working or at an NEWH event, where can we find you?

At the University of Memphis football game! My husband and I are both U of M alumni. Go
Tigers Go! ❙❘❚
