CHAPTER HIGHLIGHTS

Orange County Region
The regional group is delighted to announce its 2020 scholarship winner. Awarded
$3,700, Lexi Effron is a student at San Diego State University, where she is pursuing a
degree in hospitality and tourism management. During her studies, Lexi has vigorously
pursed internships and engagement with industry organizations. She is currently
the president of the Lodging Management Student Association as well as a course
assistant/leader for two hospitality courses. She has also completed an internship with
Hilton at the famed Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego. Rotating periodically through key
departments has allowed her to develop her interpersonal skills while providing valuable
insight into hotel operations. Lexi's goal after graduation is to combine her passion
to give back and help others with her skills in business management by eventually
securing a position as the director of operations for a boutique hotel while focusing on
sustainability. The regional steering committee board members met Lexi outdoors on
the beautiful grounds of the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles last November to offer
congratulations, support, and warm wishes.

South Carolina Region
The regional group had great socially distanced outdoor events this fall-a nice change
of pace to connect with colleagues and clients throughout the South Carolina region-
including Show and Tell: Outdoor Vendor Showcase in September. During December,
members submitted photos of their own homes decked out for the holidays. Photos are
showcased on its Instagram: @newhsc.
The group also recognized its TopID recipients: POND Interior Design, Elementum
Interiors, and J. Banks Interior Design. Recognition and celebration of TopID winners was
held during a virtual event in January, along with awarding its second South Carolina
Region's scholarship winner.
