Imagining Safety
W
e are quickly approaching one
of my favorite events of the
year-the NFPA Conference
and Expo®
place in Las Vegas in June. I'm
sure my enthusiasm comes as no surprise to
any of you who have heard me describe what
this event means to our work together to
advance safety across the globe.
Underlying many of the topics that will be
addressed at the conference is the speed at
which our world is changing, especially in
the form of technologies that did not exist
just a few years ago but are now vital parts of
our lives. In some cases, those rapidly evolving
technologies have been accompanied
by unforeseen risks that present us with an
array of fire, life safety, and electrical challenges.
Together, though, we can meet these
challenges in ways that may seem barely
imaginable to us now.
In fact, NFPA is already imagining answers
to those challenges. We continue to invest in
the future, and nowhere will that be more
evident than at the conference. NFPA is on
a journey of digital transformation to help
influence safety in more places for more
people, and we are fundamentally changing
the way we develop and deliver the latest
information and knowledge. You've told us
that you need this information and knowledge
faster and that you want easier access
to it so that you can effectively combat persistent
and emerging threats in this dynamic
safety environment. That's why we developed

, which this year takes
NFPA LiNK, our digital platform that provides
access to all of our codes and standards as
well as multimedia explanatory information.
The conference will offer you a chance to see
how LiNK continues to expand in content and
users since its inception just a couple of years
ago. This is one example of how we are taking
what you need to do your job and providing
you with leading-edge digital capabilities.
We are also working hard to revamp our
NFPA continues to
invest in the future, and
nowhere will that be
more evident than at
the C&E in Las Vegas.

to take a test run on the new site and provide
us with feedback as we near its launch later
this summer. We are also investing in the website's
backend operations, the value of which
will become clear in the next few months as
you interact with our improved online purchasing
experience.
As always, C&E is a chance for us to share
what we are doing to support what you do.
It's a special opportunity to connect and
learn, and to imagine the future of safety
together. I look forward to seeing all of you
in Las Vegas.
