PEER CONNECTION
Beads of Courage, Inc. -
beadsofcourage.org/
Beads of Courage, Inc. provides innovative arts-inmedicine
programs to children and teens with serious
illness, their families and the clinicians that care for them.
We are also committed in supporting the unique needs
of Adolescents and Young Adults (AYA) with Cancer. The
various programs available value tangible objects as
symbols of courage, honor, and hope encouraging the
power of the mind to help overcome worry and anxiety.
Cancer Hope Network -
cancerhopenetwork.org
Cancer Hope Network provides free one-on-one
emotional peer support to adult cancer patients and
their loved ones. Each of CHN's 400+ volunteers is
at least one year post-treatment or successfully
undergoing maintenance therapies. They have faced
more than 80 cancer types and speak 15 languages.
Our volunteers offer support from diagnosis through
treatment and into recovery. Cancer Hope Network
serves cancer patients in the United States and
Canada.
Imerman Angels - imermanangels.org
Sometimes the best therapy is just talking to someone
who's been there. Imerman Angels connects cancer
fighters, survivors, caregivers, and those with cancer
predisposition with " Mentor Angels " -volunteers who
share the same, or similar, experiences. Mentor Angels
provide a chance to ask personal questions and receive
support from a peer who has been down the same road.
The service is absolutely free and available for those
touched by any cancer, at any age, living anywhere in the
world!
Resilientship - resilientship.com/
Resilientship is an online platform that brings together
young women in a one-on-one model who are facing the
unique challenges brought on by a cancer diagnosis. The
process is simple. You share a few details about yourself
with us, and we will work to find you a match. Once we
put you in touch with your new friend, your Resilientship
begins. By walking with those who are on the same
journey as you, our hope is that your Resilientship
serves as a unique source of strength and that you are
empowered by knowing the fight together is stronger than
the fight alone.
Walk with Sally - walkwithsally.org/
Walk With Sally provides hope through our individualized
mentoring and community support services to empower
children experiencing trauma through a parent, guardian,
or sibling's cancer journey.

cancer has touched your life in some way, whether
it be your own personal battle, or that of a loved one or
friend, you know that the road of cancer is a long one.
If you are in this club that none of us asked to join, you
probably know that people love to call fighting cancer a
" journey " -but as a member of this club, you also know
the real truth-that this so-called " journey " of cancer
really doesn't end. Our lives are forever changed in many
ways-some negative, but some positive, too. Join Lisa
Orr as she talks about REAL topics around living with a
cancer diagnosis as a young adult. Through discussions
and interviews with inspiring people, let her help you see
the light and beauty in life after a cancer diagnosis. Follow
the podcast on Instagram @dontcallitajourneypodcast for

Life on Pause - life-on-pause.captivate.fm/
Life On Pause is a podcast for and by young adults living
with cancer. Each month, young adult cancer patients
from Penn State Health share honestly about their cancer
diagnosis, treatment, and life afterwards. As cancer
causes the group to reflect on issues both large and
small, surprisingly relatable stories and themes emerge.
From relationships to body functions, nothing is off the
table. Available however you listen to podcasts.
Negative Space - thenegativespace.life
Inspired by the art concept of negative space, defined
as the space around and between a subject, Allison
Breininger's site is dedicated to shining light on
caregivers who are often unseen and underappreciated,
but are essential components of the patients' well-being.
At thenegativespace.life she writes honestly and openly
about the realities of caregiving and by doing so creates
a safe community for caregivers to feel seen, heard, and
appreciated.
