Hospice of Marion County Wins Nonprofit Business Honor
Hospice of Marion County (based in Ocala, FL) and its affiliated companies were the proud recipient of the Stars Over Ocala “Nonprofit Business of the Year” award, presented at the Ocala/Marion County Chamber of Commerce annual meeting in February. The Stars Over Ocala awards recognize outstanding businesses and community leaders who made a positive impact in 2010 through excellence in innovation, integrity and commitment to community service. This is the second year that Hospice of Marion County has taken the top honor in the non-profit category. As an added bonus, the organization’s development project specialist, Jennifer Harmon, was honored with the Business Advocate of the Year award. Under the chamber umbrella, Ms. Harmon single-handedly created a non-profit business council of 50 members using the collective power of the non-profit community to further the common good.
Anne Shelley Joins Midwest Care Alliance
Jeff Lycan, the president/ CEO of Midwest Care Alliance, has announced that Anne Shelley will assume the role of vice president of professional development, effective April 1. Shelley most recently served as director of Universal Home Health & Hospice in Bellefontaine, Ohio.
NHF Trustee Contributes to Prestigious Nursing Text
Jeannee Parker Martin, the president of The Corridor Group, Inc. and a National Hospice Foundation trustee, has recently had the chapter, “Home Care and Hospice: Evolving Policy,” published in the sixth edition of Policy & Politics in Nursing and Health Care. The book, published by Elsevier Saunders, is widely used in nursing programs nationwide and has received 10 AJN book awards.
