recently received an email from the National Association of Social Workers. The subject line read: “Budget Cuts Potential to be Large for Human Needs Programs.” Is that a surprise to you? Our national deficit is now somewhere over $14 trillion and we all know cuts have to be made somewhere—but should hospice care be cut? Personally, I believe the answer is yes “if” end-of-life care can be provided just as well somewhere else. Or, to say it another way, “if the care we provide has become redundant.” But, let me explain….
