NHPCO 2010-12 Strategic Plan Strategic Area—Member Engagement Goal: Create and communicate opportunities for mutual engagement of NHPCO stakeholders to work collaboratively to improve end-of-life care. Objectives 1. Increase and diversify involvement in NHPCO among all types of providers and professionals Key Initiatives a. Survey members to identify meaningful opportunities for involvement in NHPCO b. Monitor and update the affinity grid and work with the Governance Committee to ensure they are looking at all possible candidates c. Partner with new organizations in the health care continuum to attract new leadership and/or members d. Continue to promote and market NCHPP directly to the staff, not just the CEOs of end-of-life care providers, so the staff can see the benefits of membership and education a. Develop and utilize benchmarking to customize and facilitate outcomes by internal stakeholder groups a. Use all vehicles to promote the online social networking tool b. Create blogs for members and nonmembers through this controlled environment c. Create advertising opportunities as a source of non-dues revenue 2. Utilize an advanced technology platform to enhance shared outcomes between and among internal stakeholder groups 3. Advance a comprehensive social networking platform for members to enhance networking communication and member engagement Current Activities to Support This Strategic Area • Utilize My.NHPCO to engage members, increase listserve participation and social networking • Effectively manage the Member Service Center • Actively promote and encourage members to use NHPCO’s new Career Center • Develop and survey current members through a needs assessment survey • Continue the “National Center for Care at the End of Life Pavilion” at NHPCO conferences to promote membership benefits and services • Council of States and NCHPP Sections: Hold two face-to-face meetings each year and regular conference calls on issues of concern
