NHPCO 2010-12 Strategic Plan Infrastructure Area—Communications Goal: Reinforce and promote NHPCO and its affiliates as the voice of the end-of-life care community through two-way dialogue and engagement. Objectives 1. Re-imagine and design NHPCO Web site based on member feedback Key Initiatives a. Secure funding to redesign and build the NHPCO Web site b. Survey membership regarding web design c. Redesign NHPCO Web site d. Member publications (e- and print) from all teams e. Maximize use of content produced in one strategic area that will serve broader membership via communications work f. Utilize social media to reinforce work and messaging to members and constituents a. Identify communication goals for NHPCO and all affiliated organizations b. Identify key messages for each programmatic element of NHPCO and affiliated organizations c. Strategically utilize communication vehicles including web, print, social media, press, marketing and other resources to reach target audiences 2. Create an integrated communication strategy and plan incorporating the strategic objectives of NHPCO and all affiliated organizations Current Activities to Support This Strategic Area • Publication of NewsLine and Insights and other select publications (e.g. organizational report) • E-communications, including: NewsBriefs, alerts and releases • Media engagement and outreach, including: press release distribution, support to media, media connections to the field • Web site oversight, changes/additions, upkeep (for NHPCO and affiliates) • Creation of outreach materials and other communications to support members • Support social media efforts to include Face Book, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn • Writing, editing, and communications support to all teams and affiliates
