10 | Newsworthy | Headlining Sunglass Hut Unveils New York, London Flagships S unglass Hut, a division of Milan-based Luxottica Group S.p.A., has unveiled two new flagship stores in New York and London. The stores, which are the brand’s firstever flagship locations, are prominently located on Fifth Avenue in New York and on Oxford Street in London. The flagship stores are part of Sunglass Hut’s strategy to build brand equity by increasing its presence in “gateway cities”—markets that are on the cutting edge of fashion and retail trends, and are tourist centers catering to large, dynamic and diverse consumer populations. The company said its flagship concept was “inspired by the brand’s style-savvy consumers, providing a fun, innovative experience that celebrates a love of fashion and shopping.” The Sunglass Hut Fifth Avenue flagship store is 6,000 sq. ft. and spans two floors (including a mezzanine level), while the London flagship measures 1,906 sq. ft. and features a 975-sq.-ft. sales floor. Both flagships feature VIP areas for private fittings and an expanded brand assortment, including special edition collections from top designers.
