EuroShop 2011
E
uroShop 2011, The Global Trade Fair, will once again bring its wares to Düsseldorf, Germany, in March 2011. Organized by Messe Düsseldorf, with EHI Retail Institute as a cooperating partner, the trade fair will be held Feb. 26-March 2, 2011, at the Düsseldorf Fairgrounds. The show, which occurs every three years, housed 1,900 exhibitors and more than 100,000 attendees from around the world in 2008. And 2011 is looking for a stellar outcome as well, with more than 1,500 exhibitors from 49 countries already reserved. “With one trip, attendees will find suppliers and consumers from the worldwide retail sector,” says Elke Moebius, project director of EuroShop 2011. “Internationality is key at EuroShop. With the exhibitors coming from almost every country ranging from Australia to the United Arab Emirates, visitors can experience the hottest trends from around the globe and see what is happening outside the U.S.” The exhibit floor will consist of four exhibit segments: •E uroConcept—shopfitting, store design, lighting, energy-saving refrigeration and air conditioning equipment, the EuroShop Designer Village and the EuroShop Retail Design Conference •E uroSales—visual merchandising, sales promotion and POS marketing •EuroCIS—information and security technology •E uroExpo—stand construction, design and special events A new feature will also be the “MQ” area, where producers from the premium segment will present top-quality mannequins in a stylish atmosphere. A KATI computerized catalog display system will enable attendees to easily find the location of every exhibitor and product category, with KATI terminals stationed in every hall. The show will also feature a North American Pavilion, which is organized by Messe Düsseldorf North America, the U.S. subsidiary of Messe Düsseldorf. The pavilion provides a location for U.S. and Canadian companies to network and mingle in order to expand their business in the overseas
marketplace. DDI, along with Messe Düsseldorf North America and the Association for Retail Environments, will host the North American Reception, to be held at the International Lounge at the Fairgrounds on Sunday, Feb. 27, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. To register, RSVP to Toni Ward at antoinette.ward@nielsen.com. In addition, many special presentations at EuroShop 2011 will provide an outlet for retail creativity, innovation and information. The EuroShop Designer Village, which is a platform for architects and design studios, will offer attendees ideas for the design of future stores and the latest trends. At the POPAI Village, international member companies of Point of Purchase Advertising International (POPAI) will present the complete range of POP marketing. For the first time, EuroShop will devote a dedicated platform—called “Eco-Park”—to the topic of sustainability this year. “This special exhibit will focus on sustainable construction and store design in retail,” Moebius says. Ancillary conference and awards programs for this year’s event include the EuroShop Retail Design Conference and Awards, organized by EHI Retail Institute, as a special event in the EuroConcept segment; The Retail Technology Awards Europe (RETA Europe), organized by EHI for the EuroCIS; and the EuroShop POP Conference, organized by EHI in cooperation with POPAI for the EuroSales segment. All congresses and forums
will be translated in both English and German. Entrance passes can be ordered in advance online at www.euroshop-tradefair.com at reduced rates, or can be purchased on-site in Düsseldorf.
