Designed as a robust South American ranch house, Toro Toro at the Grosvenor House is one of Dubai’s first forays into churrascuria-style and Pan-Latin cuisine. Local firm LW Design Group was able to parlay the decidedly traditional concept of a Brazilian steakhouse into a modern nightspot for the city’s well heeled. Of course it also helped that superstar chef Richard Sandoval (of Maya and Zengo fame) lent his talents to this unique concept venue. The layout of the spaces played a large role in the design, progressing from grandeur to intimate. LW Design Group’s creative partner Jesper Godsk explains, “You come in with a huge impact on the entry, a lot of action down the middle of the restaurant, and then it gets quieter on the two sides.” This and opposite page, from left: Toro Toro’s lounge area, kept intimate with diffused lighting and a low, dark ceiling; the wine cellar-encased private dining room. www.hospitalitydesign.com March 2012 121http://www.hospitalitydesign.com
