back space day in the life keith hobbs CEO, United Design Partnership London 7:00 a.m. > I wake up to a view of Tower Bridge from my London flat, where I spend the working week. It is also United’s headquarters since I bought and renovated the building twenty years ago. The day kicks off with a team breakfast in our U café. 9:00 a.m. > I head up to the boardroom for a movie production meeting for a new hospitality client in the Middle East. We are currently referred for many projects in the region since we designed the W hotel in Qatar two years ago. 3:00 p.m. > I leave the office to pick up my daughter Isabella from school. I use the time in the car to catch up on the phone with my design team on the progress of some work we are doing for the W Barcelona. 160 March/April 2013 hospitalitydesign.com 1:00 p.m. > Lunch with a journalist to discuss the Dolder Grand in Switzerland. One of the proudest moments of my career was the revival of this iconic hotel, which continues to attract much press interest—in particular since pop singer Rihanna recently stayed with friends and shot the cover of GQ magazine there. 5:00 p.m. > I return to the office and ask my PA to book me a flight to Dubai for a progress meeting for the W hotel on the Palm Dubai, another exciting new project we are working on for Starwood. 8:00 p.m. > I head off for dinner and drinks at the Ivy with old friends Bono and the Edge, for whom I designed the Clarence hotel in Dublin. At the end of a great evening it is time to jump in a cab and head off to my other family home in the countryside for the weekend.http://www.hospitalitydesign.com
