Self-taught screen printer John Reglein has taken
his shop from a small company with a local focus
to a high-volume decorator of athletic apparel with
a nationwide focus.

J
ohn Reglein’s business story is that of a throwback
type. You know, the type who sees a better
way to do things and actually does it. He’s
a grab-the-bull-by-the-horns type of guy who
isn’t afraid of the unknown.
How else could you explain his initial foray into becoming
a decorated apparel entrepreneur? Reglein, formerly owner
of a sporting goods store, outsourced most of his company’s

screen printing work to other decorators. But he never really
was satisfi ed with the quality and delivery of the products.
An opportunistic Reglein knew he could do better, so he
began to teach himself how to perform the art of screen printing
apparel. When he got out of the sporting goods business,
he decided to explore the possibilities of turning that decorating
knowledge into a viable business opportunity. In 1989,
Reglein — working with just two part-time employees in a
