EDITOR’S NOTE An Editor, a Show and a Party I don’t mean to state the obvious, but I have to say, there’s a lot going on with K+BB at the moment. First, let me introduce myself as the new executive editor for the magazine and tell you a little bit about me. I have 19 years of experience in the journalism industry and have worked with such magazine titles as Hospitality Construction, Atlanta Home Improvement and Commercial Kitchens, a trade publication focused on kitchens and products used by professionals in the hospitality and restaurant industries. About 15 years ago, I was also the managing editor for K+BB’s sister publication, DDI, so I am happy to have come full circle and to be working on this highly respected publication for the kitchen and bath market. As most of you already know, I join K+BB’s relatively new publisher and business leader — Natasha Selhi — in further improving the magazine content and brand to move it to the next level, which is pivotal in this dynamic industry. We also have a new online editor for the magazine — Erinn Waldo — and together we will work to provide fresh content and insight through our print and online brands. Also happening is our KBIS 2013 show from April 19-21, in New Orleans. In fact, you may be reading this magazine at the show right now. Definitely take advantage of all the show has to offer, including the new “Voices from the Industry” conference program, which features 70 speakers sharing insights on design and inspiration, business management, a focus on the consumer and sales and marketing; speaker Gary Vaynerchuck’s keynote address; the Multimedia Stage where speakers will discuss global design trends; as well as 50 new exhibitors to our show floor. And in your “down time,” don’t miss out on what this vibrant city has to offer with its Cajun cuisine and jazz venues. Starting in 2014, the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) will co-locate KBIS with the International Builders Show in Las Vegas as part of Design and Construction Week, and this year, NKBA celebrates its 50th Anniversary. KBIS 2013 wouldn’t be complete without a festive celebration to honor the NKBA’s big 5-0, which is scheduled for Saturday, April 20 from 8 to 11 pm at the Generations Hall – Metropolitan Night Club. Don your party hat and join in the fun while we toast the industry’s leading association and its accomplishments, which include national training schools, accredited college courses, design contests and promoting confidence in its products and services.
