People Making News PATRICK MOSCARITOLO President/CEO Greater Boston CVB Patrick Moscaritolo last month was inducted into the Massachusetts Lodging Association’s Hall of Fame. The award is the highest honor the association bestows. Moscaritolo was cited for his leadership in bringing high-proﬁle events and conventions to Boston, such as the World Cup (soccer), Ryder Cup (golf), and Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game, as well as major industry events like the National Business Travel Association’s annual convention. He was also recognized for his commitment to local causes, including the Crossroads Family Shelter and Boston Area Baseball Church League, the latter of which was started by the Boston Red Sox. GIUSEPPE LAMA Managing Director Resort at Pelican Hill The Italian-born veteran of some of the ﬁnest boutique hotels in Europe takes a new post in Southern California at the Resort at Pelican Hill. Most recently, Lama directed the opening of Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa. As managing director, Lama will lead all food and beverage operations at Pelican Hill, including the restaurant, catering, wedding, culinary, and villa services operations. MARISA DI DOMENICO National Sales Manager Pasadena CVB Another new appointment at Pasadena is Domenico. She was named national sales manager for Northern CA, Paciﬁc Northwest, and the U.S. Southeast. Domenico joins the CVB fresh from success at the Marina Del Rey Hotel, where she led the sales team to a 15-percent increase in revenues. Pasadena may see the same, with its convention center development debuting in spring 2009. JAY LEONARD General Manager Regal Sun Resort in Walt Disney World Resort The Regal Sun Resort (formerly the Grosvenor) has just completed a $25-million renovation. With it comes a new general manager. Leonard leaves the Hilton Waikiki Prince Kuhio, in Honolulu, where he served as general manager, overseeing a $52-million renovation there. The Regal Sun is the closest resort to Downtown Disney and offers 626 guest rooms. TERRY DEVITT Dir. of Event Mgmt. & Exhibitor Services Orange County Convention Center Technical savvy and a 10year tenure at the Orange County Convention Center have paid off for Devitt. He moved up the ranks from technician to event coordinator to senior event manager prior to the latest promotion. Earning his CMP certiﬁcation in 2005 and serving on the facility’s Event Business Management Software task force, he’s helping shape the future of OCCC. DANIELLE GOSS Manager of Event Operations Oncenter Complex Education is the key to success for Danielle Goss at the Oncenter Complex in Syrcause, NY. She recently completed the ﬁrst year of Public Assembly Facility Management School (PAFMS) at Oglebay, a professional education program funded by the International Association of Assembly Managers Inc. Participants receive intensive instruction in event production, facilities law, and ethics. Emergency preparedness and ﬁnancial management are also key. Goss will continue her studies toward becoming an IAAM Certiﬁed Facilities Executive. PAFMS grads have the chance to continue at the PAFMS Graduate Institute, an advanced program focused on management and leadership skills. LAWRENCE STAFFORD National Sales Manager Pasadena CVB Pasadena has a new national sales manager, lured from the Crowne Plaza – Los Angeles Harbor Hotel. Stafford joins the Pasadena CVB at a crucial time, as the city’s convention center undergoes a $120-million-plus expansion. He looks to grow both association and corporate business. Stafford will serve the Orange County and San Diego areas, as well as the East Coast. ERNEST BLEDSOE Executive Chef Pawley’s Plantation Golf & Country Club Bledsoe, low-country culinary insider, was named executive chef at Pawley’s Plantation. He relocated from Charleston, SC, leaving Club Corp, where he was executive chef since 2004. Bledsoe graduated from Johnson and Wales University in Miami and honed his skills at Café Maxx in Pompano Beach, FL. Bledsoe has a proven record as culinary talent and with promotions and member relations.
