Meeting People By Matt Alderton & Chris Davis No Longer Interim, San Diego CVB Names Joe Terzi President And CEO The San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau has named Joe Terzi its permanent president and CEO, after serving in an interim role since March. A former senior vice president at Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, Terzi retired from Starwood on Jan. 1, and previously served for 12 years on the San Diego CVB’s board of directors, for which he served as chairman in 2004. “His in-depth knowledge and decades of experience and leadership in the hospitality industry will guide the bureau through these difficult economic times,” said CVB board chairman Andy Fichthorn, executive vice president and general manager of SeaWorld San Diego. Terzi replaces David Peckinpaugh, who in March asked the CVB not to renew his three-year contract when it was scheduled to expire on June 30. He left days later, and both parties averred the decision was entirely Peckinpaugh’s. In June, he joined site-selection firm HelmsBriscoe as vice president of business development.
