DESIGNING FOR THE FUTURE: CONSUMER
TRENDS AND PERSPECTIVES
Sponsored by NEWH, Inc. (EL1)
Learn how the Boomer, Generation X, and
Millennial generations are rewriting the rules and
expectations for the hospitality and tourism industry. “GenXers,” aged 26 to 43, and “Millennials,”
aged 10 to 26, are rapidly reaching majority. Those
of travel age are demanding that their needs be
known and understood by the hotel, restaurant, and
travel industries. (And even “tweens” and teens
influence purchasing decisions.) Unwilling to accept
the “same old, same old,” they will measure hospitality by its level of interaction, innovation, and connection. At the same time, Boomers are changing
traditions, altering life stages, and refusing to be
ignored. Understanding the generations’ everincreasing demands and expectations is critical to
earning and maintaining consumer loyalty.
