los angeles newh chapter holds its 20th annual scholarship awards banquet NEWH members, top designers and distinguished members of the hospitality field gathered at the opulent Windham Bel Age Hotel in West Hollywood, California to celebrate sixteen design and architect students who received scholarships as part of the NEWH Los Angeles chapter’s 20th Annual Awards Banquet. Hailing from Universities all across Southern California, the eager participants were asked to submit work that showcased their talent. The Los Angeles NEWH chapter chose the “finest” projects and awarded monies totaling over $23,000 to help students with their college tuitions. The vibrant function, held in the Grand Salon, was hosted by Helen Meisel, the president of the NEWH Los Angeles Chapter. Fernando Diaz of Fernando Diaz and Associates warmed up the crowd for the anticipated festivities and “honored” guest speaker, restaurateur and architectural designer, Barbara Lazaroff encouraged the new designers to continue to break down boundaries and follow their dreams. A special thank you is in order for hard work of the Scholarship and Education Committee of NEWH (Dixie Nordstrom, Director, Sally Miller, Linda Beran, Claire Koch and Tammi Coyle, assistant to the Director) and the volunteers that assisted with the event.
