washington dc chapter takes up the torch for school from the heart On Friday, March 24, 2006 at Marriott Bethesda North and Conference Center, NEWH Regional Trade Show East brought the hospitality design, manufacturing and services corporations together for one of the most successful regional trade shows yet. NEWH/Washington DC Metropolitan Chapter President, Laurie Woliung made way for a sell-out event accommodating over 100 venders and over 400 attendees, as well as the School from the Heart booth. The evening came to close with cocktails and networking. Presenters thanking the chapter volunteers and NEWH Corporate Partners were Laurie Woliung, Brennan Beer Gorman Monk Interiors; Kristin Smith, NEWH Vice President/Events from Marriott International, Inc.; and Andy Schaidler, Teron Lighting Inc. and NEWH Regional Trade Show Director. School from the Heart raised over $10K supported by fundsmatching donations from Northeast Textiles, Inc. Yvonne Nicholson, Marriott International and Lynda Welte, Capital Purchasing Partners, LLC were dressed in schoolgirl attire to bring attention to the classroom setting where volunteers, Marthe McGrath, Barclay Associates, LTD and Martha and Randy Tillim from Tillim Associates helped chat up the crowd about the effort that funds UNICEF’s School-in-a-Box emergency education relief program.
