Beginning with a soft brushed polyester micro denier base cloth as the durable canvas, designs are then quilted in a range of patterns and colors for luxurious bedspreads or printed for duvets. Distinctive large-scale print designs have been engineered to make the guest bed a focal point, as well as a launch pad for endless options using the company’s custom capabilities to add coordinating pillows, bed skirts, drapery, upholstery, and wallcoverings to complete the look. And the new styles have earned the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Product Class II certification. P/Kaufmann also unveiled the Velvet Couture collection, luxurious pile fabrics that build from a mix of matte and lustrous yarns made of 100 percent polyester or 50 percent cotton and 50 percent Viscose yarns, to create elegant performance fabrics that reach over 50,000 Wyzenbeek double rubs. These fabrics showcase a range of deep colors—metallic, earthy orange, complex berry, bright red and blue, and grounding neutral—which complement the pattern mix of textures, stripes, ikats, geometrics, and classic ironwork motifs on both full pile and pile and ground constructions. And the density of the velvet pile and weave construction prevent pulling, which eliminates the need for backing and makes these velvets ideal for many applications from furniture, pillows, and headboards to bedding. Another initiative: after a year of work as part of the Hospitality Sustainable Purchasing Index, the company received an initial rating of 3.75 through Mindclick. Through the company’s operations and working with innovative manufacturing partners and forward-thinking customers, P/Kaufmann was able to reduce the impact of its products on the eco-system at each stage of the lifecycle and positively influence the environmental practices of the hospitality furnishings industry as a whole.
