DESIGNER INCUBATOR
NEW INC
at the NEW MUSEUM
New York, NY
www.newinc.org
The fi rst museum-led incubator for art, design, and technology.
An experimental initiative from the New Museum, NEW INC bills itself as
a "lab like environment" for creative professionals. The incubator gives space
to a hundred members each year, creating a collaborative workspace that
encourages cross-pollination between disciplines and among creative
practitioners from disparate fields. Members are provided with shared
coworking space, can participate in a variety of event series, and have access
to business professionals and entrepreneurial advisors, including the New
Museum's own network of staff and affi liates.
The 12-month program runs annually from September through August.
Perspective highlights the work of 3 alums working in different disciplines.

Joe Doucet/OTHR
othr.com
Launched in May 2016, OTHR is a line of on-demand 3D printed objects for the
home. The company is the brainchild of New York based designer and New Inc
alum Joe Doucet, along with Dean DiSimone and Evan Clabots. OTHR's objects
all are crafted in unexpected materials, from porcelain to steel to precious
metals, which the founders believe push the boundaries of form and design.
The inaugural line included 12 products, ranging from birdhouses to bottle
openers. New products are released every two weeks.
Doucet describes the brand as "using the disruptive power of technology to
create the fi rst everyday artifacts of the third industrial revolution, without
a single piece of inventory."
Each design is the result of a collaboration between an "OTHR" and an outside
designer. To date, designers have included Fort Standard, Brad Ascalon,
Sebastian Bergne, Claesson Koivisto Rune, Jonah Takagi, Philippe Malouin,
Todd Bracher, Everything Elevated, Michael Sodeau, and Paul Loebach.
OTHR has a sustainable mission as well. "By using technologies such as 3D
printing, we avoid having to create more objects than there are homes for,"
they say via their company website. "Our objects do not physically exist until
you choose to own one-each is embedded with a unique number to reflect
your participation in its creation."
All items are currently available on-demand for consumers in the U.S. and
Canada. OTHR intends to expand outside of North America later this year.
The Principals
theprincipals.us
In 2012, architect Drew Seskunas, industrial designer Charles Constantine
and master crafts-man Christopher Williams founded The Principals, an
experimental design studio that strives to "unite seemingly connected yet
ultimately disparate facets of architecture, fabrication and industrial design."
The studio's projects have included projects for clothing brands, concert
pavilions, interactive installations, and products. Their clients include
Everlane, AYR, Ace Hotel, Sonos and Ford.
Print All Over Me
paom.com
Print All Over Me is an online platform where designers can upload digital
artwork that's translated into fabric. The company custom makes a series
of different products each season with new designs, from apparel to bean
bag chairs. They regularly release special collections collaborating with
new artists.
