really split in two: legacy gyms, which resemble gyms,
and more recently, gyms adopting boutique design.
There needs to be a shift in gym design when gyms
embrace one of the two aesthetics described. Gyms
that adopt design trends, clichés, and standardizations
strip themselves of their unique selling points-
differentiation attributes. To really differentiate a space
(a case for any commerce category) designers need to
look beyond design industry conventions.
