Equipment Innovations The latest tools of the trade Bowl ’em over Anchor Packaging’s three new nine-inch Incredi-Bowls extend the company’s line of foodservice containers to eight sizes now ranging from five ounces to 48 ounces in capacity. The new containers come in 24-, 32-, and 48-ounce capacities, and like other Incredi-Bowl products, can withstand heat up to 230 degrees Fahrenheit without causing off-odors or offflavors, according to St. Louis-based Anchor. Because of this, grocers can use the containers for staging foods under heat lamps, in warming units/tunnels, or for reheating foods in the microwave. The bowls’ lids use Anchor’s proprietary anti-fogging technology, to boost visual merchandising appeal as well as order accuracy. A locking lid enables bowls to be stacked up to three high in transit, in storage, or on countertops. Anchor says it makes the entire Incredi-Bowl line from No. 5 polypropylene, so the products are microwaveand dishwasher-safe, and can also be reused by end consumers. Cold as ice more, the countertop unit offers self-serve operation and dispenses a specially formulated shelf-stable Rich’s Whipped Topping. According to Richfield, Wis.-based Server, the Simple Serv is easy to load bin can discharge 120 pounds of ice per minute at the touch of a button, but its speed is apparently no more important than its longevity. Chicagobased Howe says it designed the product for reliability and long life—not to mention energy efficiency. “The unique dispensing bin incorporates three rotating nine-inch diameter augers to ensure fast, even distribution into the discharge chute,” says Howe e.v.p. Kevin McCool of the D500’s operation. The bins, he says, “significantly reduce the manual labor required to supply flake ice in the foodprocessing industry. The live floor auger helps prevent ice bridging, greatly reducing stoppage and lost labor time.” Howe developed the bin to use in conjunction with its Rapid Freeze Ice Flakers, which can accommodate Howe units up through 6,000 pounds per day.
